Dare to Lead

This Growth Group is designed to encourage you as you develop your leadership skills, and Dare to Lead will challenge past ideas of what we all likely imagined as kids when we pictured a “strong” leader. Whether you lead a team at work, lead volunteers in your community, or lead people in your home, we believe that strong leadership begins with leading ourselves well. You will meet weekly for one hour with a group of like-minded people as we study the book Dare to Lead by Brené Brown. Together, we will explore the courage it takes to truly lead well and to operate from a place of humanity and truthfulness.

Dare to Lead is the best of the best between Brown’s well-loved books, Rising Strong and Daring Greatly. Leadership is hard. While it does require us to dig deep and lead with strength, there is and should be room for vulnerability as well. The research-based principles and actionable tools presented in Dare to Lead encourage us to live bravely. In our discussions, we will dig into these principles and tools, and walk away with a renewed belief in our ability to lead with empathy, honesty, and confidence.

When we dare to lead, we don’t pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don’t see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it with others. We don’t avoid difficult conversations and situations; we lean into vulnerability when it’s necessary to do good work. But daring leadership in a culture defined by scarcity, fear, and uncertainty requires skill-building around traits that are deeply and uniquely human.
